Get Ghillie onto your Mac, either as the packaged app or built from source.
Quick start
- Join the waitlist. We email your download when your spot opens.
- Drag
Ghillie.appinto Applications and open it. - Say hello.
The packaged app is not public yet. It is built for Macs with Apple Silicon, and until your invite arrives you can build it from source.
System requirements
- A Mac with Apple Silicon.
- Local models are optional. If you want private work to stay on the machine, install Ollama; Ghillie will use it when it is present.
- Ghillie keeps its memory in a PostgreSQL database with the pgvector extension, bound to localhost. The packaged app manages this for you.
Build from source
The repository is a pnpm workspace. Core is TypeScript; the Mac app is SwiftUI and generated with XcodeGen.
pnpm install
pnpm typecheck
pnpm test
pnpm devIn a second terminal, generate and open the Xcode project:
cd apps/macos
xcodegen generate
open Ghillie.xcodeprojCreate the database
For a fresh installation, create a database and apply the migrations in numeric order. The files are zero-padded, so a shell glob applies them correctly:
createdb ghillie
for f in database/migrations/*.sql; do
psql -v ON_ERROR_STOP=1 -d ghillie -f "$f"
doneDeploy to another Mac
scripts/build-and-deploy-macos.sh builds a signed arm64 Release, copies only the changed parts of the app to a second Mac over SSH, keeps the previous version as a timestamped backup, and launches the new one from ~/Applications/Ghillie.app.
